Panguitch-Pioneer Day
For those of you who are not from Utah, July 24th is a state holiday, Pioneer Day--recognizing the day the pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley. There are all sorts of celebrations statewide. This year I decided to go to Panguitch to celebrate. Kevin had to work so he stayed home with Stockton. Anistyn was supposed to come with me, but got an invitation to go to Arizona with her grandparents to play with cousins, so OF COURSE, she chose that over me! I have to admit--it ended up being VERY relaxing without any kids. I drove down with Shanny. We stayed at my Uncle's Mitch's cabin. We LOVE it there. There is no internet access, no cell phone service, no TV--just the beautiful great outdoors. It is so peaceful and relaxing. One of the best parts was that my Uncle Mitch was there (he lives in California), so I got to see him for the first time in a few years. My mom and her Kevin were there too. Grandpa and Lucy were at the nearby campground (as they always are during July), as were my Uncle Scott, Aunt Jody, and cousin Randy. On Friday we attended the Panguitch parade. It was AWESOME! It was so small-town America and I loved every minute of it. Both of my grandparents on my mom's side are Panguitch natives, so I have a lot of ties there. After the parade we ate lunch at Henries (the only burger joint in town, but very yummy). Then we drove past the Orton house (where my grandma grew up) and went back to the cabin to relax. Saturday was Mitch's birthday, so my grandma & Miles, aunt Emma & aunt Susan came up to celebrate--followed later by Grandpa and Lucy. What a wonderful weekend of laughs, relaxing and enjoying nature. Can't wait until my next visit!
