Anistyn's first day of 1st grade & our 12 year anniversary

What a BIG day we had yesterday!!! It was Anistyn's first day of 1st grade, along with our 12 year anniversary. Kevin went into work a little late so he could come with us to drop Anistyn off at school. Wow--"brutal" is the word I choose to best describe that experience. I thought Kindergarten was hard! She was SO excited to go to school. She even woke up to her own alarm, got dressed, and ate breakfast on her own. When her teacher came out to greet them, she said "everyone turn around and wave goodbye to mom & dad!" Holy crap--I think I actually felt my heart break as she said those words! The tears started to flow as I watched my little girl walk into her school. She's had a great first 2 days and LOVES school. She has a great teacher (Mrs. Erickson) and I know she'll do awesome this year. As we walked away, even Stockton was depressed (see above picture). We both had a hard day--he was extra cranky and mommy was extra sad. But, we made it through and today was quite a bit easier.

Last night for our anniversary, Kevin and I went to dinner and then to the Draper Temple (thanks for babysitting mom!) We decided that it would be a cool tradition to do sealings on our anniversary every year--that way we get to be exactly where we were when we got married. So, that's what we did and we loved every minute of it. It was such a cool experience and we for sure want to keep it as a new tradition. August is a big month for our family and we have one more big event this week--Anistyn's 6th birthday! Stay tuned for details.....
