Once in a lifetime opportunity......

Yesterday we had a once in a lifetime opportunity (unless they build another temple closer to us, or we move--both HIGHLY unlikely). We had tickets to go to the Draper Temple dedication, at the temple. Since no cameras are allowed inside the temple, above is our only picture of the event. It was an amazing experience! We got to our designated parking lot about 2pm and loaded onto a bus to the temple. We waited inside the chapel in the church adjacent to the temple for a little over an hour until it was time to head over to the temple. We then waited in the "tunnel" outside the temple for about 20 minutes while everyone put on their protective shoe coverings. (Keep in mind that each session accommodated almost 2,000 people, so there was quite a bit of waiting). Then we were ushered into the temple and our group was seated in the chapel inside the temple. The spirit there was SO strong. Right before the session was about to begin, President Monson made his way through the chapel on his way to the Celestial Room. The minute he walked in I felt a feeling like none other I have ever experienced. It was AMAZING, to say the least. My testimony that we have a living prophet was strengthened significantly. The actual dedication was wonderful. How fun for us to see 3 members of our ward in the choir and have our Stake President (who is also in our ward) give the opening prayer. It made the dedication that much more special. After the dedication we were privileged to have President Monson walk back through the chapel. So, twice in one day, I was 10 feet from the prophet. Days don't get much better than that! I have never experienced having a new temple built in my temple district. I loved being a host for the open house and then getting to go back and attend the dedication. Being a part of these events have made it feel like "my" temple. It has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! I am so grateful for temples and that through the ordinances performed inside, I can be with my family for eternity!

We just got back from the broadcast. I love how the things that the church does only strengthen my testimony more and more. I wish we could have been at the temple for it, I'm jealous! (in a non-sinful sort of way, of course)

Oh how awesome!! I am jealous you were so close to President Monson. But I am so very happy for you. What a wonderful blessing for you two.

We were at the last session and when Pres Uchtdorf walked by our room, he smiled, waved and blew kisses. Love that man!!!!

Once in a lifetime indeed!
