So, I finished the Hinckley challenge...reading the Book of Mormon in 97 days in honor of President Hinckley's 97 years. I must say, it was an AMAZING experience. I did have to read quite a bit each day, but the best thing that came out of this was that I established a habit of reading EVERY DAY. As far as I can recall, I have never read my scriptures every day on a regular basis. This has always been something I've struggled with. It has now become something I look forward to each day. I learned so much this time around. On Easter Sunday we gave all of our Young Women a pocket-sized BOM and challenged them to read it in 177 days (97 for Pres. Hinckley and 80 for Pres. Monson). Along with that, we gave them a red pencil to mark every reference to the Savior, and a yellow highlighter to mark everytime God is speaking. I'm excited to start over again now and catch up to them!

Good job! I'm sure you are an amazing YW leader! Those girls are so lucky! :)
That is so cool that you did it! I am also doing the challenge...but I must say, I have not been very consistant at all. I have 10 days to finish, and still have about 200 pages to go. I'm determined to finish, but probably haven't gotten as much out of it as I would have liked to. Again, nobody's fault but my own.
What a great challenge for your young women! I remember when I was a YW, our bishop challenged us to read the BOM completely during the summer. At the end of the summer, whoever had completed the challenge, got to go enjoy a day of boating on the lake. I was one of only three who got to go...and I had a blast! Plus I will never forget the impact it had on my spirituality. I'm pretty sure that is when I first gained my testimony of the Book of Mormon and of it's truthfulness.
I'm sure this will be a life changing experience for some of your YW...one which they will never forget.
I can vouch for the truth of kjerstin's comment. Rachel is an amazing YW leader! The girls and I are very blessed to have her in our lives. Thank you for your hard work, your dedication and your example. It is a privilege to serve with you!
Good for you. Way to stick with it, congrats!
